Whether you're solo or working with a team, Replit gives you everything you need: a code editor, AI help, deployment, and live collaboration. All in one tab.
What Is Replit?
Replit is a browser-based coding platform where you can build full applications, share your work, and collaborate with others in real time. No setup, no downloads, no headaches.
Whether you're testing ideas, building with a team, or just starting to learn how to code, Replit gives you everything in one place: a code editor, hosting, deployment, AI help, and a vibrant community.
Step 1: Set Up Your Account
To get started:
- Go to replit.com
- Create a free account (email or Google sign-in)
- Log in to access your Replit dashboard
From your homepage, you’ll be able to create projects, follow other creators, and explore community-built apps.
Step 2: Start Your First Repl
In Replit, every project is called a Repl.
To start one:
- Click “Create”
- Choose a language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, etc.)
- Or select a template with starter code
- Give your Repl a name
- Click Create Repl

You’ll now enter the workspace, your command center for building and running projects.
Step 3: Understand the Workspace
Here’s what you’ll see in the Replit workspace:
- Left Panel (File Tree): Manage files and folders
- Dock (Toolbox): Access AI tools, version control, and integrations
- Repl Metrics: See CPU, RAM, and storage usage
- Center Panel (Editor): Write and edit your code
- Right Panel (Console/Shell): See your code run in real time
Click the green Run button at the top to execute your code.
You can even rearrange your workspace by dragging panels or adding tools like chat, threads, or docs - fully customizable.

Step 4: Collaborate in Real Time
One of Replit’s standout features is live collaboration. You can invite others to work with you:
- Click the “Invite” button
- Add collaborators by email or username
- Or share a join link, like Google Docs, but for code
Your teammates can edit and run the project live, with changes visible instantly.

Step 5: Use Threads for Feedback
Need to review or comment on a piece of code?
- Highlight a line
- Click to start a thread
- Leave a comment or question
- View, search, or resolve threads in the Threads panel
Threads are great for giving feedback, tracking fixes, or noting changes, especially in team builds.
Step 6: Share Your Project
Finished a project? You can share it in multiple ways.
Option A: Share with a View-Only Link
- Click the Repl title
- Select “Cover Page”
- Copy the URL to share a public preview

Others can view, run, comment on, and even fork (duplicate) your project.
Option B: Publish to the Replit Community
- Click the Repl title
- Select “Publish”
- Add a title, description, cover image, and tags
- Hit Publish
Your app will now appear in Replit’s global feed for others to discover, like, comment on, and fork.
Step 7: Build Your Profile
Replit is also a social platform. You can follow others, get followers, and showcase your work.
Go to your profile to:
- Add a bio, links, and a profile picture
- Pin your favorite Repls
- Share your public profile link
Your followers can see what you publish, like, and comment on. A great way to build reputation as a creator.
Step 8: Explore the Replit Community
Tap into a global feed of real projects built by other creators.
Visit the Replit Community section to:
- Discover trending, new, and popular Repls
- Filter by tags like “Python,” “AI,” “Games,” and more
- Fork and remix public projects
Check out the Community Hub for:
- Events and coding challenges

- Bounties (earn Cycles by solving real problems)

Step 9: Learn and Grow
Replit offers a built-in Learn Hub filled with:
- Beginner-friendly tutorials

- Skill-building resources
Whether you're new to coding or learning a new framework, it's a great place to level up fast.
Step 10: Use Cycles to Unlock Features
Replit uses a virtual currency called Cycles to access premium features.
You Can Use Cycles to:
- Create private Repls
- Keep Repls always on
- Use Ghostwriter (AI code assistant)
- Boost performance for advanced apps
Earn Cycles by completing Bounties, real coding challenges posted by other users, or buy them directly.
